Bi-plane rides offered

TROY — WACO Air Museum is offering open cockpit bi-plane rides on July 18-19 at Historic WACO Field, Troy.

Gift certificates are available online and in the gift shop. Tickets also can be purchased on the day of the rides.

Tree, bench to memorialize loss

TROY — On Friday Feb. 27, 2015, the community of Troy was dealt a tragedy that claimed the lives of three children: Jakia Jones, 13; Dionanna Bishop, 13; and Dejah Bishop, 14, who all died from carbon monoxide poisoning. Their grandmother and caregiver, Jean Bishop, as well as survivor, Jahari Ward, age 8, survived and are thankful to the community for all of their continued support during this tragic time.

To honor the memory of these three young ladies, the Lincoln Community Center, in partnership with Upper Valley Medical Center will conduct a tree dedication ceremony at 4 p.m. Friday, July 10, on the Lincoln Community Center property at 110 Ash St., Troy.

The public is invited to attend.

The memorial tree, along with a bench, is made possible through donations from the UVMC employees and Future Leaders group.

“The Lincoln Center is very thankful for the ongoing support of UVMC and their initiative to take leadership in this memorial for these young ladies and their families,” said Shane Carter, executive director.

Tax office to close

TROY — The city of Troy Income Tax office will be closed on Thursday, July 9, for staff training.

Payments may be placed in the drop box at City Hall.

City staff apologizes for any inconvenience this causes.

Acrylic workshop offered

TROY — The Country Workshop Artists will offer an acrylic layering workshop on July 20, conducted by CWA member and award winning painter, Jan Lendino.

The workshop is located in the old Stouder Hospital building on Wayne Street in Troy and will start at 6 p.m. with a short demonstration followed by a hands-on workshop.

The cost is $10 and paper and acrylics are included.
