IH Scout and Light Truck Nationals at WACO Airfield and Museum

TROY — The 26th Annual IH Scout and Light Truck Nationals will be held at Historic WACO Airfield and Museum in Troy, on August 14-16. The sole purpose of this event is to preserve and promote the legacy of International Harvester built products. Highlighted in the wide array of products are, of course, all “Motor Trucks” manufactured by IH, as well as the first mass-produced Sport Utility Vehicle, the Scout. The original Scout was created as a competitor to the Jeep. The Scout was developed and ultimately produced in less than two years time — a remarkable achievement in the automotive industry in the 60’s. The Scout line was formally introduced to the public on January 18, 1961.

Bring the family and come see all the show has to offer. There will be a swap meet with parts vendors selling new, old and used parts, seminars, vehicle games and judging competition. Different food vendors will make it easy to spend the day enjoying the wide variety of displays. Admission includes a visit the WACO Air Museum. The WACO Aircraft Co. was the largest producer of aircraft in the country in the 20’s & 30’s and the designer of the CG4A glider used in WW II. Round out your experience by taking an open cockpit bi-plane ride. Admission is $8 or $15 for the weekend and children under 12 are free.
