Ginghamsburg hosts blood drive today

MIAMI COUNTY — Community Blood Center is asking donors to “Be a Deer” by donating at the Ginghamsburg Church community blood drive today from 8 a.m. to noon in the South Campus Chapel, 7695 S. County Road 25-A, Tipp City.

The “Be a Deer — Donate Blood” long-sleeve t-shirt is free to everyone who registers to donate. Schedule an appointment online at or call 1-800-388-GIVE.

Christmas Eve services set

• TROY — All are welcome to join the festive traditional candlelight services with Holy Communion on Christmas Eve at 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. at First Lutheran Church.Services will include Christmas carols, special music and dancing. Pastor Holst’s Christmas message is “When Christ Calls Us Back To Bethlehem.”

There will be no Sunday morning services.

PLEASANT HILL — Underneath the glitz and gaudiness, overbooked schedules, and over stretched bank accounts, there’s a true meaning to Christmas. You are invited to come and find out what it is on Sunday, Dec. 24, at a special 10:30 a.m. worship celebration.

First Brethren will also hold a 7:15 p.m. Christmas Eve candlelight service.

• TROY — St. John’s United Church of Christ invites the community to celebrate Christmas Eve from 10:30­­–11:30 a.m. and from 7­­–8 p.m., Dec. 24, at the corner of Canal and Walnut Streets, in downtown Troy.

The morning service includes special music provided by vocalist Jorian Johnson. Pre-service music for the evening worship begins at 6:30 p.m. and features selections by the adult choir and organist Ginny Beamish on the church’s 114-year-old pipe organ. The evening service ends with a traditional candle-lighting ceremony as congregants sing “Silent Night.”

Monthly community meal set

TROY — First United Church of Christ in Troy will offer its monthly Share A Meal from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at 120 S. Market St., Troy.

Volunteers will be serving vegetable beef soup, hot dogs, apple sauce, brownies and beverages. Carry-outs will be available at 12:30 p.m., as quantities last. This program is free to anyone wishing to participate and are in need of a warm nourishing meal. Use the Canal Street entrance where the church is handicapped accessible.
