Garage sale scheduled for today

TROY — First Lutheran Church is hosting a garage sale from 9 a.m. to noon today at the church, located at the corner of State Route 41 and Washington Road, Troy.

Church sale set for today

PLEASANT HILL — A Ten Thousand Villages sale will be held 9 a.m. to noon today at the Brethren in Christ Church, located at the southwest corner of Hill and Church Streets in Pleasant Hill.

Ten Thousand Villages is a fair trade organization that provides sustainable work for artisans in 38 countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East. Product sales help pay for food, education, healthcare and housing for artisans.

The sale will have handcrafted jewelry, handbags, home décor, nativity scenes, Christmas items, soup mixes and more. Visa, MasterCard and Discover accepted.

Sale will be in the Fellowship Hall, which is handicap accessible.

St. Patrick’s Ministry Fair held tomorrow

TROY — A free breakfast will be served from 8-11 a.m. tomorrow at the St. Patrick Parish Center, 444 E. Water St., Troy. Patrons can then check out the ministries at St. Patrick that will be displayed in the gym, including GriefShare and Cancer Companions.St. Patrick also has small Christian Communities and Faith Formation for all ages.

Trunk-or-treat tomorrow

TROY — The Troy First United Methodist Church will host the 10th Annual Trunk-n-Treat from 5:30-7 p.m. tomorrow in the parking lot of the First Place Christian Center, located at the corner of W. Franklin and S. Cherry Streets, Troy.

This free event provides an opportunity for children to celebrate fall and collect treats in a safe and fun environment. Vehicles with decorated trunks or tailgates will be parked in First Place parking lot, and children in costume may walk from car to car to receive goodies. There will be free games, music, candy and a hot dog dinner.

Prime Minister’s “God Encounter” to be aired on Monday

TROY — Former Ethiopian prime minister Tamrat Layne tells about his controversial encounter with God in a filmed interview at 7 p.m. Oct 26 at Lifetree Café, located inside St. John’s United Church of Christ, 130 S. Walnut St., Troy.

After serving as prime minister, Layne was convicted of corruption charges and served 12 years in prison. During his incarceration, Layne claims he experienced a supernatural visit from God.

For entrance to the café use the Canal Street door or the Walnut Street ramp for the handicapped entrance.

Harvest Party planned for Oct. 31

TIPP CITY — Open Arms Church is hosting a harvest party from 6-8 p.m. Oct.31 at the church, located at 4075 S. Tipp-Cowlesville Rd., Tipp City.

The party will have games, cake walk, free food, candy rain and a hay ride. All ages are welcome.

Election dinner scheduled for Nov. 4

WEST MILTON — Hoffman United Methodist Church will be hosting its 157th Annual Election Day Pot Pie Dinner from 4:30-7 p.m. Nov. 3 at the church, 201 S. Main St., West Milton.

The menu will include homemade chicken pot pie, mashed potatoes, green beans, slaw, roll, assorted desserts and beverages. Meals are dine in or carry out and a suggested donation of $7.50 is asked for each meal.

There will be no Grandma’s Kitchen on Wednesday, Nov. 4.

Bazaar to be held Nov. 7

COVINGTON — The Covington Presbyterian Church will offer a bazaar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 7 at the corner of Wright and Pearl streets.

The event will include crafts, baked goods and a Cook’s Corner where a wide range of prepared foods can be purchased.

A raffle also will be offered, with a queen-size homemade quilt will be given away, along with a sleigh full of goodies, a homemade tablecloth and napkins and holiday wreath.

Revival set for Nov. 11-13

TIPP CITY — Open Arms Church is holding a Revival with Reverend Melvin Sanchez at 7 p.m. each night Nov. 11-13 at the church, 4075 S. Tipp-Cowlesville Road, Tipp City.

Support for parents, caregivers

TROY — Special seminar and support groups will be offered at St. Patrick Parish. The church offers GriefShare for those who have lost loved ones through death. Two sessions are offered on Wednesdays from 1-2:30 p.m. or 7-8:30 p.m. in the Parish Center, 444 E. Water St., Troy.

These sessions are for patients, family and care givers. These support groups can be beneficial for those going through a tough time to help them feel they are not alone or their thoughts and feelings are not abnormal. Share with those dealing with the same situations and help each other through this time while learning ways to do it from the experts.
