For schools, against eternity tax

To the Editor:

We are opposed to the continuous renewing levy (Issue 3) that will be on the November ballot for Tipp City Schools. This levy is very different from past renewals. Should it pass, it will provide an eternity tax without requiring future voter input.

Our votes help to ensure we hold our schools accountable and not be taken for granted. We want our children and our children’s children to have the same future opportunity to go to the polls and exercise their voting rights on school matters. Why would we want to take this away from them? A lot will change in five, 10, or 15 years from now in terms of legislative, demographic and administrative changes, and it’s our children who will be left with the situation.

Present and future taxpayers trust must be earned — not guaranteed.

Don’t sign the contract for eternity!

Vote Against Issue 3.
