Monday sports roundup

TROY — Not only did Troy defeat Chaminade Julienne Monday, but the boys golf team didn’t post a single score higher than 44.

Coach Mark Evilsizor still wants better — after all, the most important tournaments of the year are fast approaching.

The Trojans (9-1) posted a 156-160 victory over the Eagles on Monday at Troy Country Club, two days before traveling to Beechwood for the postseason Greater Western Ohio Conference Tournament.

“The match was a little closer than we expected. It was a pretty average round for us,” Evilsizor said. “We’ve got a couple days to get our games in gear.”

Holden Scribner and Nate Uhlenbrock both shot 37 to lead the way for the Trojans. Troy Moore added a 40, Tyler Lambert shot 42 and Austin Rank and Keaton Pfeiffer both shot 44.

A little of the weight of the GWOC Tournament is off of Troy’s shoulders already with Butler having clinched the league title. But Evilsizor still wants to see his Trojans perform at a high level leading into sectional tournament time.

“We’ve got a big tournament Thursday,” he said. “We’ll see how we stack up against the rest of the GWOC at this point in the season.”

The postseason GWOC Tournament begins at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at Beechwood Golf Course.
