ARCANUM — The Troy boys golf team didn’t necessarily get the performance it wanted at the postseason Greater Western Ohio Conference Tournament.
Luckily, the Trojans have more than a week to turn things around before the sectional.
Troy shot a team score of 330 — eight strokes higher than the preseason tournament — at Thursday’s postseason GWOC Tournament at Beechwood Golf Course in Arcanum, falling to seventh place as a team.
Troy Moore led the Trojans with a 78, tied for 16th individually. Holden Scribner shot an 82, Austin Rank and Keaton Pfeiffer both shot 85, Tyler Lambert shot 87 and Nate Uhlenbrock shot 90.
At the preseason tournament, Troy posted two scores over 90 — but also had two scores under 80, shooting a 322 to place fifth. Springboro won the postseason tournament with a 298, followed closely by Butler with a 300. Centerville (313) was third, Beavercreek (319) fourth, Wayne (321) fifth and Fairmont (326) sixth.
Piqua finished 13th with a 361, led by Kyle Ingle’s 83 and Derek Jennings’ 84.
* Girls Golf
SPRINGFIELD — Tippecanoe’s girls golf team was the Central Buckeye Conference runner-up after Thursday’s CBC Tournament at Reid Park, as the Red Devils shot 372 as a team to champion Kenton Ridge’s 351.
Ally Chitwood led the Devils with an 80, Sammie Rowland shot 94, Taylor Hudson shot 86, Tori Merrick shot 102, Lydia Steuve shot 111 and Emily Doll shot 122.
“Ally became the fourth Tipp player to medal in the league event,” Tippecanoe coach Scott Murray said. “She also had her first hole-in-one in a practice round two days earlier.”
Tippecanoe travels to Darby Creek Saturday for the Marysville Invitational before a match against Troy Monday.
* Girls Soccer
Troy 1, Trotwood 1
TROTWOOD — Alie Soutar scored the Trojans’ lone goal Wednesday night as Troy’s girls soccer team struggled to finish against Greater Western Ohio Conference North Division foe Trotwood on the road, battling the Rams to a 1-1 tie.
Troy is now 4-4-1 overall, 1-0-1 in GWOC North play, while Trotwood fell to 4-5-1 and 0-1-1 in the division. The Trojans host Bellbrook Saturday night.
Tipp 2, Ben Logan 0
BELLEFONTAINE — Tippecanoe picked up its seventh shutout in nine tries, defeating Ben Logan 2-0 in Central Buckeye Conference crossover play Wednesday night.
Lauren Lester scored the game’s first goal with an assist from Lexi Polanski, then Allie Wasson added an insurance goal with an assist from Lexi Blair. And that was plenty for the Red Devil defense — which still has only allowed two goals this season.
Tippecanoe (8-0-1, 5-0 CBC Kenton Trail) hosts Wayne Saturday.
* Boys Soccer
Tipp 6, Ben Logan 0
TIPP CITY — The Tippecanoe boys soccer team won its ninth straight game to start the season Wednesday night, blowing out Ben Logan 6-0 at home in Central Buckeye Conference crossover play.
Tippecanoe, which routed Graham 9-2 Monday, has now scored 25 goals in its last four games. The Red Devils will host Wayne Saturday night as the second half of a girls-boys doubleheader.
Carroll 4, Lehman 1
SIDNEY — Lehman tuned up for the upcoming sectional tournament in its final regular season match of the year Wednesday, falling to Carroll 4-1.
At first doubles, Diana and Sarah Gibson won 6-0, 7-6 as the two will move from singles to doubles for the postseason.
At first singles, Alex Read lost 6-0, 6-1. At second singles, Emma Simpson lost 6-0, 6-0. At third singles, Carroll won by forfeit. At second doubles, Ann Pennaparra and Alison Briggs lost 6-3, 6-1.
“Carroll is a good team. We played the sisters at doubles to get them some practice for sectionals,” Lehman coach Tim Ungericht said. “We had a successful regular season as we met our goals we set before the season began. We got more team wins than last year, and each returning girl had more individual wins than last season. Not to get some girls to districts.”
