Troy Christian runs wild in win over Ponitz

TROY — The Troy Christian football team threw just one pass in its 47-26 homecoming win over Ponitz Friday night.

Considering the way the Eagles were running the ball Friday, there wasn’t much need to take to the air — after all, you can’t go broke taking a profit.

Nathan Waltz led Troy Christian with 11 carries for 213 yards — a staggering average of 19.4 yards per carry — and two touchdowns. He also added an interception on defense. Jason Blake had 25 carries carries for 130 yards and three touchdowns. Quarterback Caleb Twiss — who completed his only pass attempt of the night for 7 yards — added a touchdown run.

With the win, Troy Christian improved to 5-1, while Ponitz fell to 0-6. Troy Christian hosts Jefferson this coming Friday.

Milton-Union 45, Waynesville 38 OT

WEST MILTON — Milton-Union picked up a huge Southwestern Buckeye League Buckeye Division win on homecoming night, knocking off Waynesville in overtime.

Will Morris scored the game-winner in overtime for the Bulldogs on a 2-yard quarterback sneak.

With the win, Milton improved to 3-3 (2-1 in the SWBL Buckeye), while Waynesville fell to 3-3 (1-1). Milton travels to Preble Shawnee this coming Friday.

Bethel 21, Arcanum 20

BRANDT — After dropping two games in a row, Bethel rebounded Friday with a one-point win over Arcanum.

With the win, Bethel improved to 4-2 (2-2 in the Cross County Conference), while Arcanum fell to 1-5 (1-3 in the CCC). Bethel hosts Covington this coming Friday.

Piqua 14, Sidney 12

SIDNEY — Piqua recaptured “The Battered Helmet” rivalry trophy with a win over Sidney Friday.

Quarterback Micah Karn ran in both of Piqua’s scores. He finished with 22 carries for 141 yards. He also completed 8-of-13 passes for 123 yards.

With the win, Piqua improved to 4-2 (1-0 in the Greater Western Ohio North Division), while Sidney fell to 3-3 (0-1). Piqua hosts Greenville this coming Friday.

Lehman 41, Hardin Northern 7

PIQUA — Lehman picked up its fourth win in a row, blasting Hardin Northern in Northwest Central Conference competition Friday.

With the win, Lehman improved to 4-2 (3-0 in the NWCC), while Hardin Northern fell to 2-4 (1-2). Lehman travels to Waynesfield-Goshen this coming Friday.

Tri-Village 46, Bradford 21

BRADFORD — The Railroaders remain in search of their first win of the season after falling to Tri-Village Friday.

With the loss, Bradford fell to 0-6 (0-4 in the Cross County Conference), while Tri-Village improved to 3-3 (1-3). Bradford hosts Miami East this coming Friday.
