KETTERING — Roughly one month ago, the Tippecanoe volleyball team not only upset state-ranked Bellbrook, it swept the Golden Eagles.
Saturday, the Red Devils proved that was no fluke.
Tippecanoe again swept Bellbrook in Saturday’s Division II district final at Fairmont’s Trent Arena, coming through in key moments throughout to win in three close sets, 25-19, 26-24, 25-22 and advance to next week’s regional tournament.
Brooke Aselage led the way with 16 kills and three blocks — with nine of those kills and two blocks coming in the decisive third set, a set in which Tippecanoe fell behind 9-2 early. Corinn Siefring added 11 kills and 10 digs, Rachel Wildermuth had eight kills and three blocks, Olivia Newbourn had three blocks, Abby Hughes had 15 digs, Alaina Titley had 10 digs and Izzy Crow had 33 assists and two aces.
“In a nutshell, our constant aggressive serve and counterattack of defensive digs was the key to our win, plus staying poised after such a rough start in Set 3,” Tippecanoe coach Howard Garcia said. “This was our second straight win against a talented Bellbrook team and our 20th straight win of the season.”
It’s the Devils’ first regional tournament appearance since 2015.
And now Tippecanoe, which improved to 24-2, will face the top-ranked team in the state in D-II, Roger Bacon, in the regional semifinal Thursday at Butler High School.
