TROY — The Troy girls soccer team scored a monster non-league victory at home Monday night, holding off previously-unbeaten Springboro in a 2-1 win.

With the win, the Trojans — which defeated Springboro for the first time since a 1-0 postseason win in 2012 — improved to 6-1-2. The Panthers, who entered the night leading the Greater Western Ohio Conference National Division, fell to 6-1-1, ending their four-game winning streak.

Julianna Williams had a goal and an assist to lead the Trojans, with Leah Harnish adding a goal and goalie Paige Nadolny making 12 big saves to preserve the win as Troy rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit.

“Saying tonight was a huge win would be an understatement,” Troy coach Michael Rasey said through the team’s Twitter account after the game. “The team showed tremendous toughness, teamwork and resilience to battle back in the second half after being down 1-0. Lesser teams would’ve crumbled, but not this group.”
