Tipp City schools respond to racist comments

TIPP CITY — Tipp City school officials took to social media Saturday to condemn racist comments made by students.

In a series of posts on Twitter, Superintendent Gretta Kumpf wrote that administrators have contacted the parents of students involved in making inappropriate comments and that the district would be taking action according to its student conduct policy.

Other tweets were also shared to several district accounts and a post was made on the high school’s Facebook page. That post reads, “Tipp City Schools does not condone or tolerate racism of any sort. Recent comments by some of our students are totally inappropriate. They are not representative of the values we strive to instill in our students at Tippecanoe High School.”

Updates to this story will be made as more information becomes available. We are working to learn how many students were involved, as well as what was said.
