PIQUA — Winans Chocolates + Coffees headquartered in Piqua held its annual franchise meeting on Friday, Sept. 7.
Joe Reiser and Laurie Winans Reiser hosted the meeting in their downtown Piqua “Winans Hub.” The building houses the candy factory, coffee roastery and warehouse. It is also the home of the home office, gift basket department and flagship store.
Winans also has locations in Troy, Dayton and Beavercreek.
Tipp City vintage art model Ruby Randall greeted meeting attendees. Randall, dressed as Lucille Ball, models vintage and historical figures. The 1952 “Job Switching” episode of “I Love Lucy” is a favorite of Winans employees and fans. The episode features Lucy and Ethel working on the line in a candy factory. Randall channeled Lucy’s good-natured playfulness while posing for photos with franchise owners. She remained in the store for the morning to pose for selfies with Winans customers.
The franchise meeting updated participants on upcoming marketing programs, new holiday packaging and merchandising plans and new labeling requirements. Attendees also learned of promotions the company will roll out over the next year. The Winans Way Vision Statement was discussed in detail. The Winans Way supports the fourth generation, family-owned business in remaining true to its long standing tradition of hand crafted, fresh daily products while at the same time being current with customer’s ever evolving demands.
Winans owner Joe Reiser discussed the many national and international training programs attended by staff throughout the year. Continuing education of corporate staff, baristas, coffee roasters and chocolatiers is a company priority.
