Tipp AD under investigation

Warrants executed at Shomper’s office, home

TIPP CITY — Authorities executed search warrants at the office and home of Tippecanoe High School Athletic Director Matt Shomper on Friday.

Shomper is under investigation by the Tipp City Police Department, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Ohio Ethics Commission, and the Ohio State Auditor’s Office, according to a report from the Tipp City Police Department.

No charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing, police confirmed. Authorities have not yet disclosed the nature of the investigation.

Shomper was placed on administrative paid leave from all employment positions held with Tipp City Schools Friday, Superintendent Dr. Gretta Kumpf said.

“Since this involves a pending personnel matter and an active investigation by outside authorities, the school district cannot comment further at this time,” Kumpf said in a press release.

Shomper joined the district in 2006 after leaving Springboro schools.

Katy Barker, Tippecanoe Middle School’s athletic director, has been appointed to perform the duties of the high school athletic director on an interim basis.

The warrants were executed during a teacher in-service day, students were not in class.
